Guidelines and Resources by Province or Territory

Alberta

  •  In the middle of Stage 2 

  •  No cap on attendance for places of worship, but 2 m must be maintained between families

 

British Columbia

  • Currently in phase 2

  • Attendance to places of worship of more than 50 people is prohibited

 

 

Manitoba

  • Has recently started phase 3

  • Subgroups of 50 people indoor; subgroups of 100 people outdoor (physical distancing should be present between members in subgroups)

  • The maximum capacity for faith services is 30% whether indoor or outdoor

 

New Brunswick

  • All zones at yellow level except for zone 5 which is at orange level

  • Yellow level: Religious services of 50 or fewer

  • Orange level: Alternative to holding services online, they can be held outside with participants in their vehicles (vehicles are 2 m apart)

 

Newfoundland and Labrador

  • Alert Level 2

  • Faith-based organizations can accommodate 50% capacity or 50 people, whichever is less

 

Northwest Territories

  • Relaxing phase 2: Next Steps

  • Outdoor and indoor faith-based gatherings restricted to 50 and 25 (or less) people, respectively, assuming physical distancing is maintained

 

 

Nova Scotia

  • Gatherings of no more than 50 people (indoors or outdoors) with social distancing

  • Drive-in religious services are allowed and are exempt from the rule above (vehicles must be 2 m apart)

 

Nunavut

  • Nunavut's Path: two-week checkpoints

  • The size limits for outdoor gatherings is 25 people

  • Faith ceremonies indoor must maintain separation/distancing

 

 

Ontario

  • In the middle of stage 2 

  • As of June 12, 2020 places of worship will reopen at 30% building capacity

 

 

Prince Edward Island

  • In phase 4

  • Worship services indoor and outdoor (no more than 50 people)

  • In larger venues where multiple gatherings can occur, maximum 100 people

 

Quebec

  • In the middle of phase 5

  • Outdoor gatherings and indoor gatherings limited to 50 people with social distancing

 

Saskatchewan

  • In phase 4, part 1

  • Maximum of 150 people or 30% seating capacity, whichever is less

 

Yukon

  • Currently in phase 1

  • Maximum is 50 people or 1/3 building capacity, whichever one is less
